In furtherance to upholding the truth and highest journalistic standard, the management of Urban Radio 94.5FM Enugu has released a recording revealing how the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC in Enugu, barged into the station’s studio and disrupted a live programme on Monday 14th of October, while trying to arrest the presenter of PRIME TIME show, FAVOUR EKOH.
It would be recalled that the EFCC, Enugu had in a statement released yesterday, denied carrying out the arrest while the presenter was on air, and also claimed that they never disrupted the lawful activities of the radio station.
However, Urban radio, having been able to capture the unprofessional conduct of the EFCC, including when the presenter pleaded with the personnel of the anti-graft agency to allow her finish her programme, made the recording available on all the station’s social media platforms.
Even though the EFCC operatives refused to give reason for the raid, subsequent inquiries have revealed that the incident may be connected to an interview conducted on a previous show with a Global Finance Marketing company named Leverage Index Limited – a paying client.
Meanwhile, Urban Radio in a statement, denied any wrongdoing and urged the commission to direct its investigations towards the registered office of Leverage Index Limited and to refrain from resorting to such heavy-handed tactics, as well as ensure that its operatives adhere to appropriate conduct and attire during future operations, as such actions are not only disruptive but also undermine public trust in law enforcement agencies.
