TOKE MAKINWA DEFENDS DECISION TO HIDE DAUGHTER’S FACE ONLINE

Media personality TOKE MAKINWA has responded to criticism from a social media user who accused her of practicing “performative privacy” in the way she shares content about her daughter online.

MAKINWA, who welcomed her daughter in 2025, has consistently posted photos and videos of the child, known as YAYA, while deliberately concealing her face.

The issue resurfaced after she shared a video on Saturday night in which the child’s face was again intentionally omitted.

Reacting to the post, a netizen acknowledged respecting MAKINWA’S decision but argued that showing other parts of the child while hiding her face amounted to “performative privacy.

MAKINWA, however, pushed back against the criticism, defending her choice to maintain a level of privacy for her child while still sharing moments with her audience.
