Head coach of the Nigeria national football team, ÉRIC CHELLE, says new players will be given the opportunity to impress at the forthcoming Unity Cup.
CHELLE said the competition would serve as a platform to assess new and emerging talents, including players of Nigerian descent based in Europe, as well as previously invited players who are yet to make an appearance for the national team.
CHELLE, who is aiming to guide the Super Eagles to a successful title defence, indicated that he would adopt a similar approach to last year, when 10 home-based players were included in the squad, revealing that established members of the team would be reserved for upcoming high-profile international friendlies against Poland and Portugal in June.
The Unity Cup, scheduled to take place in England next month, will feature Nigeria, Zimbabwe, India and Jamaica, with Nigeria facing Zimbabwe in the opening fixture at The Valley, home ground of Charlton Athletic, on May 26.
