President BOLA TINUBU has welcomed Nigeria’s formal admission as the newest National Member Committee of the World Energy Council, WEC, describing the development as a proud moment for the country and a strong endorsement of its energy reforms.

The President said Nigeria’s entry into the century-old global network comprising more than 100 countries would enable the nation to play a more active role in shaping international discussions on energy security, equity and sustainability.

In an official statement issued by the State House, TINUBU congratulated the inaugural leadership and board of WEC Nigeria, chaired by ABDULRAZAQ ISA, with BALA WUNTI, a former Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NNPC Limited, serving as Chief Executive Officer.

Emphasising the importance of the task ahead, the President said the combination of experienced industry leaders, regulators, finance experts and youth representatives provides WEC Nigeria with the credibility needed to succeed.

President TINUBU reaffirmed the Federal Government’s full support for WEC Nigeria as a neutral and technology-agnostic platform for policy dialogue and investment mobilisation, while wishing the board success in what he described as a historic national assignment.
