President Bola Tinubu says the country must make difficult changes to be respected in the comity of nations, arguing that even though initial reforms may be painful, the nation must be willing to take the hard steps to set the country on the path of growth.

Tinubu who spoke in Abuja yesterday while declaring open the 2023 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association NBA at the Velodrome, MKO Abiola Stadium said the people cannot have the country they desire without the reforms that have been initiated.

He said it is painful at the beginning, in the short and medium term, but they must do what they have to do to take the nation to its great destiny and Nigerians need to change their attitude to make the country great.

The President while lamenting over Nigeria’s external debt servicing figure, described it as unsustainable, stressing that the nation cannot continue to service external debts with 90% of the country’s revenue.
