President BOLA TINUBU has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting freedom of religion as guaranteed under the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.
The President made the declaration yesterday during the commissioning of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, ADSN, National Headquarters, Hassanat Abebi Okunnu House, in Surulere, Lagos.
President TINUBU commended the donor of the secretariat, FEMI OKUNNU, for immortalising his late mother through the construction of the facility and praised his integrity, humility and record of public service, noting that the OKUNNU family is widely recognised for integrity, patriotism and selfless service to Nigeria.
Represented by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, LATEEF FAGBEMI, the President said his administration would continue to uphold freedom of religion while encouraging religious organisations to promote tolerance, peaceful coexistence and national unity.
TINUBU also applauded the society for its contributions to education, moral development, religious service, healthcare, humanitarian intervention and community development for more than a century, describing it as one of the country’s foremost Islamic organisations.
