President BOLA TINUBU has announced plans to channel all the earnings he has received as president since taking office in May 2023 into a newly created support fund for members of the Nigerian Armed Forces and their families.
The president made this known in a personal statement released yesterday to commemorate his 74th birthday, revealing that he had instructed the Accountant-General of the Federation to set up a dedicated account that will cater to serving personnel, injured soldiers, and the families of fallen heroes.
TINUBU said his decision to contribute his entire salary would serve as the initial funding for the initiative, noting that it would complement existing welfare and insurance arrangements for military personnel.
He also called on public office holders, business leaders, and citizens to contribute to the fund, emphasizing that supporting the armed forces is a shared national responsibility rather than an act of goodwill.
Recall that on December 2, 2025, TINUBUflagged off activities marking the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the State House in Abuja, where he launched the appeal fund and emblem, and also contributed ₦200 million out of a total ₦320 million raised, introduced the “Thank a Soldier” digital platform, and disclosed plans by the Ministry of Defence to engage retired military personnel in securing vulnerable areas.
