The Presidency has clarified the reason behind the acquisition of a new presidential jet for President Bola Tinubu.
The Special Adviser to the president on Media and strategy, Bayo Onanuga during a televised interview yesterday, explained that the current jet was acquired to prevent president Tinubu from being involved in a plane crash caused by malfunctions, affirming that he had before the acquisition, conveyed his fears to National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, about the faulty plane and expressed his discontent over the high maintenance costs.
Onanuga however, said people should prioritize the president’s safety and expressed uncertainty about anyone wanting the president to face an air crash while emphasizing the importance of ensuring his safety so he can hand over leadership to his successor.
Meanwhile, Onanuga, further clarified that the President has never claimed to be the Minister of Petroleum, stating that under President Tinubu’s supervision, the Petroleum Ministry has two ministers, the minister the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources-Oil, Heineken Lokpobiri and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources- Gas, Ekperikpe Ekpo.
