NIGERIA GOVERNORS’ FORUM SUBMITS STATE POLICE FRAMEWORK TO NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum has forwarded a proposal to the 10th National Assembly, outlining how state police could be established. 

Chairman of the forum and Kwara State Governor, ABDULRAHMAN ABDULRAZAQ, revealed this during a Sallah visit by 25 state governors to President BOLA TINUBU at his residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, explaining that the submission was part of broader efforts by state leaders to work with the federal government in tackling ongoing security threats across the country.

ABDULRAZAQ noted that the document submitted by the governors, is intended to guide lawmakers in developing the legal backing required to implement the initiative.

The governors also reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with security agencies to curb terrorism and other forms of violence, while continuing to invest in infrastructure and improve living standards.

The high-level meeting was attended by several state governors, including HOPE UZODINMA, ALEX OTTI, UMO ENO, DOUYE DIRI, HYACINTH ALIA, PETER MBAH among others.
