The Military has reported that over 40 ISWAP fighters, including a senior commander, were killed in an air strike targeting a terrorist hideout in Badu Village, south of Gudumbali in Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State.
The Military Information Officer at the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation Hadin Kai, MOHAMMED GONI, disclosed in a statement issued in Maiduguri today that the operation was launched following credible intelligence about ISWAP fighters planning coordinated attacks on troops in Sector 3.
According to GONI, the Air Component carried out aerial surveillance to track the terrorists before conducting a precision strike on a building they occupied, destroying two vehicles and approximately 20 motorcycles used for transportation, logistics and offensive operations.
The Military stated that assessments were continuing to establish the full extent of the damage, noting that the operation formed part of ongoing efforts under Operation Hadin Kai to degrade terrorist capabilities, safeguard communities and restore lasting peace and stability in the North-East.
