Manchester City FC have secured their first trophy of the season with a 2–0 victory over Arsenal FC in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

Manager PEP GUARDIOLA saw his side bounce back strongly after their midweek UEFA Champions League exit at the hands of Real Madrid, which ended their hopes of a quadruple, while Arsenal, entered the match still competing on multiple fronts and aiming to keep their trophy ambitions alive.

The first half ended goalless, with both teams cautious and evenly matched, but  the game turned after the break when Arsenal goalkeeper KEPA ARRIZABALAGA fumbled the ball, allowing NICO O’REILLY to head into an empty net for the opener.

O’REILLY struck again later in the match, sealing the victory with his second goal and confirming City’s triumph.

Despite the defeat, Arsenal remain nine points clear of City in the Premier League standings.
