Late Nigerian music icon, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, has become the first African artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
He is set to be recognised in the early influence category alongside Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Gram Parsons and Celia Cruz.
In addition, Nigerian-born British singer, Sade Adu, known for the hit song “Sweetest Taboo,” will be honoured in the performance category.
The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
Earlier this year, Fela also achieved another milestone, becoming the first African musician to receive the Grammy Lifetime Achievement
