IMO POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTS OVER ALLEGED RAPE AND MURDER OF NURSING STUDENT.

The Imo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a 21-year-old nursing student, WENDA ACHUMBA, in Obowo Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, identified as 32 year old ONYEMA OKONKWO,  and 25 year old EMMANUEL ONYEKACHI, , both natives of Umuadara in Umulogho community, were apprehended following what the police described as sustained intelligence-led operations carried out in collaboration with local community stakeholders.

The spokesperson of the command, HENRY OKOYE, who disclosed this in a statement, said preliminary investigations had linked the suspects to the tragic incident, adding that one of the suspects confessed to involvement in the crime during interrogation.

OKOYE said the two suspects have since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Recall that the deceased, ACHUMBA, a post-basic nursing student at Mercy College of Nursing Science, Umulogho, was reportedly found dead in her private off-campus residence located in Umuadara, Umulogho.
