GUNMEN KILL 3 PEOPLE AND KIDNAP 2 OTHERS IN FRESH BENUE ATTACK. 

Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen militia have killed three persons and abducted two others in Sati-Ikov District of Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State, barely two weeks after a similar attack in the area that left one person dead and several residents injured.

Deputy Majority Chief Whip of the Benue State House of Assembly, SIMON GABO, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Makurdi, stating that the assailants also made away with two motorcycles and other valuables, while destroying several properties.

Attributing the recurring assaults to armed groups crossing from neighbouring Katsina-Ala Local Government Area through River Katsina-Ala, GABO added that security personnel had been deployed to the area following reports of the attack.

The lawmaker condemned the incident and called on residents to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring that he would work with security agencies, traditional rulers and government officials to investigate the attack and prevent further occurrences.

Efforts to obtain a response from the Police Public Relations Officer, UDEME EDET, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
