FORMER GOVERNOR OF IMO STATE SURVIVES ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT.

Former Governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha has narrated how he survived an assassination attempt when his convoy was attacked by gunmen in the Ihube community on the Okigwe- Enugu expressway, killing one of the policemen.

Okorocha who spoke yesterday narrated that the cop killed during the attack which happened on Friday was one of the policemen deployed from the Government House in Enugu state to take him to the burial ceremony of the mother of the immediate past governor of Imo state Emeka Ihedioha.

He narrated his encounter at Amaimo in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of the state, at the birthday anniversary celebration of the People’s Democratic Party PDP candidate for the November 11 governorship election in Imo state, Samuel Anyanwu.

Lamenting the killing of the cop which he described as unfortunate, Okorocha said he had attended the funeral ceremony at Mbaise and the convoy had dropped him at his Spilbat mansion in Owerri and was heading back to Enugu when they were attacked.
