The Enugu State Police Command has apprehended five suspects in three separate operations for alleged vandalism and theft of public infrastructure, including a solar street light, road traffic signs and materials belonging to the Enugu State Water Corporation.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DANIEL NDUKWE, disclosed this in a statement disclosing that WISDOM NUHU and MOSES JONATHAN were arrested on September 27 while allegedly negotiating the sale of a stolen solar street light at a scrap dump in New Artisan Market, while CHUKWUDI NWIGBO was arrested on September 24 for allegedly removing road traffic signs along Abakaliki Road, GRA, Enugu.
In a separate operation on September 15, ZUBAIRU HAMANPEDIMSO and MOHAMED ADAMU were arrested for allegedly conspiring to vandalise and steal materials belonging to the Enugu State Water Corporation, with iron materials, bolts and nuts recovered from them.
The Command said the five suspects have been arraigned and remanded in Correctional custody pending further hearing, while efforts are underway to apprehend other accomplices.
Reacting to the development, Commissioner of Police, BITRUS GIWA, commended the operatives for their efforts and called on members of the public to provide timely and credible information on activities capable of undermining public assets and security.
