The recent inauguration of the Big Tent Coalition Shadow Government orchestrated by a renowned political economist, PAT UTOMI aimed at checking presidenT BOLA TINUBU’S government across all sectors of the economy, has generated concerns within the country.
The National Coordinator of the Human Rights Volunteer Corps, LARRY OGUEGO, commended the actions of UTOMI, describing it as an emergency response initiative set up to monitor government activities in critical sectors.
OGUEGO who stated this yesterday during the Urban Radio political programme, The Parliament, stressed that Nigeria needs a shadow government to check dictatorship.
He noted that shadow government is a way of making the government accountable in the absence of a strong opposition in the country.
CARRYMORE, who called in during the programme, said the inauguration of a shadow government is right for the existence of a democratic state.
Recall that the Federal Government, through the DSS, filed a suit against UTOMI in a Federal High Court in Abuja on May 13, 2025, claiming that Insitituting a shadwo government was an attempt to usurp the executive powers of the present government.
