The National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, and the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees, AUPCTRE, have called on the Federal Government to urgently revoke the privatization licences granted in the power and water sectors.

NUEE’s North West Zonal Organising Secretary I, AYUBA BARDE, who spoke to newsmen after a meeting in Kano, said the privatisation policy has had far-reaching negative consequences on the nation and must be reconsidered.

He further alleged that the sectors were handed over to government allies without proper valuation, resulting in “grid collapses, blackouts and excessive billing, thereby exposing the citizens to greater risk.
