In a circular dated June 9, 2026, the Edo State Ministry of Education announced that the affected schools namely, Ososo Grammar School, Ososo Comprehensive High School, and Makeke Secondary School, were closed after the Edo State Command of the Department of State Services, DSS raised a security alert over an alleged plot by suspected bandits to carry out mass abductions of students in the Edo North Senatorial District.

During the session, some lawmakers including SALIU MUSTAPHA (from Kwara Central) and TONY NWOYE (Anambra North), appealed for restraint, citing reports that the former NNPCL chief was receiving medical treatment in Germany, and  urged the committee to grant KYARI another opportunity to appear before lawmakers and respond to the allegations
