ARGENTINA CONFIRM NEW CAPTAIN TO REPLACE LIONEL MESSI

Argentina head coach LIONEL SCALONI has confirmed that CRISTIAN ROMERO will succeed LIONEL MESSI as the national team’s captain once MESSI makes his final appearance for the country.

SCALONI made the announcement ahead of Argentina’s forthcoming friendly matches against Bolivia, Burkina Faso and Benin.

SCALONI noted that ROMERO had already been the team’s third-choice captain behind MESSI and NICOLAS OTAMENDI, while EMILIANO MARTINEZ, RODRIGO DE PAUL and LAUTARO MARTINEZ are also options to wear the armband.
