Nigeria’s senior national women’s football team, the Super Falcons, have dropped seven places to 43rd in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings.
According to the official ranking update released by world football governing body FIFA, the ten-time African champions suffered a significant slip after losing 83.54 ranking points, falling from their previous global position of 36th.
The drop follows a challenging stretch of results across recent competitive international fixtures and friendlies:
Points Loss Drivers: The deduction of 83.54 ranking points reflects recent setbacks across continental qualifying fixtures and international friendly matches.
Africa’s Number One: Despite the global decline, the Super Falcons maintain their position as the top-ranked women’s national team in Africa, holding off regional rivals South Africa, Morocco, and Cameroon.
Rebuilding Focus: Sports analysts and stakeholders have called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to secure high-profile international friendlies and restructure technical preparations to help the team regain ground on the global stage.
The NFF is expected to outline upcoming schedule windows for the team as they look to rebuild momentum ahead of future international qualifying campaigns.
