LAGOS, RIVERS AND ENUGU STATES RECORD HIGHEST IGR IN 2025

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has stated that the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recorded a combined Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of ₦5.15 trillion in 2025, representing a 40.93 per cent increase from the ₦3.65 trillion generated in 2024.

According to NBS Lagos State recorded the highest IGR at ₦1.77 trillion, accounting for more than one-third of the total revenue generated by the states and the FCT.

Rivers State ranked second with ₦428.42 billion, followed by Enugu State with ₦406.77 billion, while the FCT took the fourth placed with ₦356.34 billion.

The three states with the lowest IGR were Sokoto State, with ₦20.48 billion; Ebonyi State, with ₦17.18 billion; and Yobe State, which recorded the lowest IGR at ₦16.01 billion.
