Federal Government Approves 830,000MT Petrol Importation for Q4 2026

In a bid to maintain energy stability through the end of the year, the Federal Government, via the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), has approved the importation of 830,000 metric tonnes of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) for the fourth quarter of 2026.

The import quota is intended to supplement local refinery output and build strategic national reserves ahead of the peak-demand Yuletide travel period. Regulatory authorities indicated that the balanced approach between domestic production and supplementary imports aims to prevent supply bottlenecks and ensure price stability across all regions during the holiday rush.
