ABIA STATE  RANKS TOP-PERFORMING STATES IN  BUDG-IT 2026  REPORT.

Abia State has recorded improved fiscal performance, with the state emerging among the top-performing states in the 2026 BudgIT Report covering the period from 2017 to 2025.

The state Commissioner for Information, OKEY KANU, disclosed this in Umuahia, stating that the report placed Abia second in aggregate revenue growth and third in Internally Generated Revenue growth, while the state ranked first in total expenditure growth, capital expenditure growth and personnel expenditure growth, attributing the performance to what he described as prudent and strategic management of public funds.

The commissioner said the assessment also aligns with findings from the Philips Consulting State Performance Index, which identified Abia as one of the fastest-improving states in the country,  and maintained that the government’s priority remains improving the welfare of residents rather than competing with other states.
