Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Inspector General of Police, OLATUNJI DISU, has urged Nigerian youths not to allow themselves to be used by politicians as tools for misinformation, hate or digital intimidation to advance political ambitions.
The IGP gave the charge at the opening of the National Youth Leadership and Security Dialogue, organised by the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja, where he urged the youth to participate actively, peacefully and lawfully in elections and protect their future.
DISU also called on youths to reject recruitment into political violence and digital thuggery, and warned them against carrying weapons for anyone’s political ambition.
While highlighting the role of the police in creating a safe and peaceful environment for free, fair and credible elections, he also appealed to political leaders and actors across the political spectrum not to use youths to fight their political battles.
