The Panel of Inquiry set up by the Enugu State Government to investigate the remote and immediate cause of the crisis rocking the Obeagu Ugwuaji autonomous community in Enugu South Local Government had its inaugural sitting at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs, Enugu on Wednesday.
Addressing the groups from Obeagu, the chairman of the Panel, VENATUS ODO while welcoming the people of Obeagu Ugwuaji autonomous community, informed them that their terms of reference included to ascertain the immediate and remote causes of the crisis in Obeagu, to ascertain the role of the traditional ruler and any other person that may have brought about the crisis, ascertain the character of the persons involved in the crisis and their extent of their involvement, and recommend appropriate measures that will bring peace to the community.
Speaking further, he enjoined the people of the community to submit the memoranda and any other information they have to the panel, adding that the panel has given two days’ grace to those who would want to make submissions to the panel, which will elapse Friday, 15th August, to enable the panel to complete its findings within the two weeks given to it by the Enugu State Government.
