The Federal Government has highlighted seven common errors that could hinder Nigerians from securing public service jobs and advised prospective applicants to strictly adhere to official recruitment procedures.
In a public awareness notice, the Federal Character Commission, FCC, stated that many job seekers unknowingly reduce their chances of success by failing to follow recruitment guidelines, submitting inaccurate details or depending on unofficial sources for information on available vacancies.
The commission identified the common mistakes as submitting applications through unverified platforms, disregarding application requirements, missing submission deadlines, providing incorrect information, and failing to prepare beyond the application stage.
It cautioned applicants against relying on unofficial websites, social media posts and forwarded messages for recruitment information, urging them instead to verify job openings through recognised government platforms and avoid paying anyone who claims to have influence over recruitment exercises.
The FCC further advised applicants to carefully review eligibility requirements and complete their applications before the closing dates, stressing that recruitment into federal institutions follows established official procedures and that anyone demanding money or attempting to manipulate the process is acting outside the law.
