A faction of the Labour Party (LP) aligned with JULIUS ABURE has rejected a recent Court of Appeal ruling concerning the party’s leadership crisis, describing the judgement as unacceptable.

In the statement, ABURE, who serves as the party’s National Chairman, criticised the court’s decision, arguing that it contradicts established legal principles governing the internal affairs of political parties, as previous court rulings have supported this stance.

He also rejected claims that the tenure of his leadership had expired, insisting that the outcome of a valid national convention held in March 2024 in Nnewi remains binding.

ABURE further confirmed that the party has begun legal proceedings to challenge the decision and plans to escalate the matter to the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, the NENADI USMAN led Labour Party has released the list of chairmen and members of its electoral subcommittees ahead of its forthcoming nationwide congresses scheduled across the country, announcing that ward congresses are scheduled for Thursday, April 23, 2026, local government congresses will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026 and state congresses are fixed for Saturday, April 25, 2026, while its National Convention will hold on Tuesday, 28th April 2026, in Umuahia, Abia State.
