The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released a new schedule for the 2027 general elections, moving the presidential and National Assembly polls to January 16, 2027.
Under the revised timetable, governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will now be held on February 6, 2027.
Recall that INEC had slated the presidential and National Assembly elections for February 20, 2027, while governorship and state assembly contests were to be conducted on March 6, 2027.
The commission reviewed the election dates after the repeal of the Electoral Act and the enactment of the Electoral Act, which introduced a new legal framework for conducting elections.
Three major highways, Mokwa–Bida Road (120km); Mokwa–Makeri Road (63km) and Bida–Labata Road (123.5km) are expected to rebuilt in Niger state, and will be reconstructed using reinforced concrete pavement to ensure durability and long-term value.
