A member of the Obidient Movement, Enugu State Chapter, CHERECHI TORTY, has shared her thoughts on the Continuous Voter Registration, CVR exercise that commenced on August 18, 2025, addressing concerns raised by the opposition African Democratic Congress, ADC regarding the figures showing massive listings in the South-West, particularly in Osun State, compared to other parts of the country.
Citing voter apathy in the South Eastern region CHERECHI, who participated yesterday on Urban Radio’s political programme, The Parliament, emphasized the importance of citizen participation in electoral processes, and encouraged citizens to be involved, stating that the people hold the utmost importance in every society.
While acknowledging the concerns over the recently released figures by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, CHERECHI called for electoral reforms and stressed the impact of government policies on the citizens
Recall that the Enugu State chapter of the Obidient Movement recently launched a new campaign called ‘A New Nigeria is Possible – Get Your Permanent Voter Card, PVC and GO MERD’, which stands for Get Organized–Make Election Rigging Difficult, an initiative aimed at addressing what the movement described as the decades-long challenge of election rigging, which has impacted the legitimacy of elections in the country.
