Governor Hope Uzodimma today unveiled a new wage structure for Imo State civil servants: a N104,000 minimum wage; a sharp rise from N76,000. Additional raises were granted to doctors (N503,000) and tertiary lecturers (N222,000).
This move is backed by improved finances: IGR now tops N3 billion monthly, federal allocations have doubled, and state debt has been significantly lowered. In addition, the governor also earmarked N16 billion for pensioner gratuities starting today.
Consequently, labour leaders welcomed the development as a major win for workers and a testament to the administration’s commitment to welfare and economic growth.
