The Enugu State Governor, PETER MBAH, has highlighted technology and decentralization of regulatory powers as vital components for the development and growth of the Nigerian gaming industry.
Governor MBAH, represented by the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, NATHANIEL URAMA, stated this at the opening ceremony of the second 2025 edition of the Enugu Gaming Conference, organized by the Enugu State Gaming and Lotto Commission at the International Conference Centre in Enugu.
While commending the Enugu State Gaming and Lotto Commission for organizing the conference, which focused on transitioning from centralized to decentralized regulatory structures, Governor MBAH reiterated his administration’s commitment to revolutionizing the gaming sector through technological innovation and robust regulation.
Governor MBAH emphasized the gaming industry’s potential to create jobs and stimulate economic growth, while unveiling plans to deploy cutting-edge technologies and public awareness initiatives.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, ARINZE ARUM, highlighted the evolving nature of the industry, and advocated for a decentralized regulatory framework that would cater to local needs, support financial priorities, and enhance collaboration between state-level commissions and federal entities.
The National Commissioner of the National Data Protection Commission, VINCENT OLATUNJI, represented by ALEXANDER OWEN, underscored the critical roles of privacy, security, and compliance in shaping the future of gaming and advocated for the adoption of rigorous age verification methods on gaming platforms to protect minors.
