The Special Adviser on Project and Special Duties to the member of the House of Representatives representing Udi/Ezeagu federal constituency, CYRIACUS UMEHA, JASON OKECHUKWU, has defended the defection of the lawmaker to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC from the Labour Party, attributing the decision to the internal crisis rocking the party.

While attributing the decision to the internal crisis rocking the Labour Party, the Special Aid to the house of Rep member insisted that the transition was necessitated by the need for proper representation of the people.
UCHE, who called into the programme from Obeleagu Umanaa, strongly condemned UMEHA’s defection, describing it as a huge political mistake.
The lawmaker representing Udi/Ezeagu federal constituency, CYRIACUS UMEHA, announced his defection from the Labour Party to the All Progressives Congress on May 17, 2025 during a rally at Ibagwa-Aka in Igboeze South LGA, citing division in the Labour Party both at the national and state levels and the need to connect to the center as reasons for his defection.
