The wife of the Governor of Enugu State, NKECHINYERE MBAH has reiterated the preparedness of Enugu State Government to end Gender based violence by enforcing the existing laws, including the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law.

MBAH who was represented by the SSA to the Governor on Gender, Chidimma Egeonu gave this assurance in her opening address at the one day sensitization exercise on eradicating gender based violence at Igbo Etiti Council headquarters, Ogbede, stating that the State Government will continuously engaged in advocacy campaigns across the state, as well as partnering with civil society organizations, religious bodies, and traditional institutions to end the menace called gender based violence.

In his opening remarks the Executive Chairman of Igbo Etiti, Eric Odo remarked that the reason why he inaugurated a committee to fight gender based violence was his understanding of the fact that it is a serious violation of human rights and a life-threatening health and protection issue, adding that he is confident that the committee put in place in the local government will deliver on their mandate.
