The MoU seeks to reinforce the ongoing partnership that began in 2014, when AFRIMA held its inaugural awards ceremony to recognize outstanding African musical talents and promote African music globally.

The Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs, and Social Development, Minata Cessouma stated that with the signing of the MOU, the AU and AFRIMA have reiterated their commitment to fostering African musical talent, creating more opportunities for artists, and using music as a means to promote integration, social cohesion, and economic transformation.

Also, President and Executive Producer of AFRIMA, Mike Dada, conveyed his excitement about the renewed partnership, expressing gratitude to both current and past AU Commissioners for their forward-thinking leadership, strong support, and commitment to advancing Africa’s creative industry.
