Barcelona yesterday maintained their strong early season performance as they defeated Espanyol 3-1 and extended their lead over Real Madrid to nine points.
Barcelona’s teenage winger, Lamine Yamal energetically bent in an impressive cross with the outside of his foot which Dani Olmo turned in off the crossbar for the 12th-minute opener.
Eleven minutes later, Marc Casado, delivered a precise pass behind the Espanyol defense, with Captain Raphinha timing his run impeccably, allowing him to skillfully swing the ball into the net, while Olmo got his second goal with a thumping shot from the edge of the area to put Barcelona 3-0 up.
Though Espanyol had two goals ruled out for narrow offside calls in the first half, another goal early in the second half from Alvaro Tejero also ruled out over the same close offside call, but Captain Javi Puado, swept in at the far post 18 minutes after the break to reduce the deficit and Barcelona put strong performance, leaving the score sheet of the game at 3-1.
