Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu has said her husband, President Bola Tinubu, should not be blamed for the current economic hardship in Nigeria.

Oluremi made the remark yesterday at the palace of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and equally inaugurated a hostel and a 2.7kilometre road donated to Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile Ife, by the Ooni of Ife and named after her.

She said Tinubu’s administration is still in its early stages and should not be held responsible for the current economic situation but maintained that they were working to resolve it and secure the future.

Oluremi while acknowledging that the subsidy had been removed, expressed confidence that, with divine support, Nigeria would be greater in the next two years.

Her comments come amid harsh economic difficulties being faced by Nigerians since the removal of the fuel subsidy, which caused petrol prices to rise from 198 to 1,030 Naira per litre.
