Human rights lawyer, FEMI FALANA, has denied having anything to do with popular crossdresser, IDRIS OKUNEYE known asBOBRISKY and his alleged bribing of prison officials to serve his prison sentence outside the correctional facility.
A controversial blogger, MARTINS OTSE, popularly known as VERYDARKMAN, had shared a voice note in which BOBRISKYclaimed to have given some officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) ₦15m to drop money laundering charges against him, adding that FALANA had sought a presidential pardon for him in exchange for N10 million.
But the human rights lawyer, during an interview, denied ever meeting BOBRISKY or speaking to him, adding that he has assisted 280 convicted people both home and abroad to get pardon and never on any occasion has he or his law firm demanded for or received a dime from anybody granted pardon.
He said he has resisted the temptation to file a criminal complaint because he is leading a team of lawyers in West Africa campaigning for decriminalization of freedom of expression but assured that they will embark on civil proceedings with a view to restoring his integrity and that of his son, FALZ.
FALANA said they want to use this case to set an example so that nobody will simply run to social media to defame any Nigerian.
