FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HANDS OVER 64 CNG BUSES TO ORGANIZED LABOR AND STUDENT’S UNION

The Federal Government yesterday handed over 64, 100-seater capacity compressed natural gas, CNG buses to the organized labor and student union leadership at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.

The Federal Government, through the presidency, also made available over 400 compressed natural gas conversion kits handed to private sector transporters in four states as part of efforts to lower the cost of fuelingvehicles used for public transportation.

Receiving the buses, the Secretary-General of the Trade Union Congress TUC, NUHU TORO, and the Head of the International Desk of the Nigeria LaborCongress NLC, UCHE EKWE, commended the government for the initiative but added that the busescould not cover the entire workforce In Nigeria.

This followed the outcry from many Nigerians about the hike in transportation costs due to the removal of fuel subsidy.
