The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, has alleged that sponsors of the End Bad Governance protest were plotting to undermine the nation’s democracy.

Alake stated this yesterday shortly after the Council of State meeting, which was attended by former Chief Justices of the Federation, former Presidents and past Heads of State, including Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari who were physically present while Yakubu Godwin and Abdulsalami Abubakar joined virtually but former President, Olusegun Obasanjo neither attended physically nor joined online.

The Minister said the Council members had condemned the recent protest, describing it as a calculated attempt by the sponsors to effect a change of regime by force, which was also resisted.

He suggested that anyone who is not satisfied with the current administration, can vote the government out in the next election, emphasizing that any change of government must occur through the ballot box and not through the barrel of a gun, insurrection, or any other unconstitutional means.
