The Inspector-General of Police IGP, Usman Baba says the May 29 inauguration of former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu as the President of Nigeria remains sacrosanct and can’t be altered.

Baba in a press briefing yesterday in Abuja promised to do everything possible alongside other security operatives to defend democracy, warning political actors trying to foment trouble or frustrate the inauguration of newly elected leaders to desist from such plans.

The IGP said that it is expected that true democrats would consider their political ambition under the overriding national security and democratic interests of the country.

He however stated that the public utterances of some political actors and their current attempts at inciting public protests to create national tension ahead of the Presidential Swearing-in ceremony do not only negate the values, but they also manifestly rebellious, undemocratic, and unconstitutional.
