Parents have been enjoined to embrace family planning to enhance the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women, which would go a long at eradicating Sexually Transmitted diseases and Infections, unplanned pregnancies, maternal morbidity, and mortality in the country.
This call was made by the Regional Communication and Marketing Officer, Marie Stopes Nigeria, Ogoamaka Odenigbo at an interactive session with stakeholders in Enugu East Senatorial Zone, held at Sylvia Hotel Enugu.
Odenigbo explained that her organization provides a range of short-term, long-term, and permanent methods of contraception.
Speaking further on the goal of the interactive session the Enugu State Training and Clinical Officer, Chika Ugwoke stated that the goal of the session with the stakeholders was to sensitize the royal fathers and stakeholders on how to reduce the number of unplanned and unwanted pregnancies, through the promotion of uptake and adoption of contraceptives.
Urban Radio Correspondent, Emeka Chibuoke said Marie Stopes Nigeria had trained over 152 clinical service providers like nurses on how to facilitate and render quality and safe reproductive health services, adding that the workshop was attended by traditional rulers and strategic stakeholders from the Enugu East Senatorial Zone.
