Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the Philippines’ disaster response agency to go on full alert and mobilize all government agencies as Super Typhoon Ragasa threatens  the northern part of the country.

The state weather agency said the super typhoon packed winds of 215 kilometres per hour( kph) and gusts up to 295 kph, while making a landfall on Calayan Island in Cagayan province.

The government also suspended work and classes across Metro Manila and large parts of Luzon as outer rainbands began lashing the region, prompting warnings of power outages, landslides, floods, and dangerous seas.
