The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities SSANU and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions NASU say the union will progress with their planned protest today over salary arrears owed members.

Though there were hopes that the government may wade in and prevent the protest billed to be held in their branches nationwide, the National President of NASU, MAKOLO HASSAN said there is no going back on the demonstrations.

HASSAN yesterday in a television interviewsaid apart from the failed meeting on Thursday, they have not heard anything from anybody and their members across the country met in their various branches and they will hit the ground running from today.

He said the Federal Government has failed to address the demands of the unions following their warning strike some months back and that after today’s protest, they will review the situation next week Thursday and take the demonstrations to Abuja on the 18th.
