SENATE TO HOLD EMERGENCY PLENARY SITTING ON TUESDAY.

The Senate will on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, hold an emergency plenary session.

This is contained in a notice sent by the Clerk of the Senate, EMMANUEL ODO, saying that the lawmakers were directed to convene at the National Assembly complex on the instruction of the Senate President GODSWILL AKPABIO.

Although no reason was stated for the meeting, the development comes amid debates about the e-transmission of election results after the Electoral Act amendment bill passed the third reading at the Senate. 

Meanwhile,  a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), KENNETH OKONKWO, has called for the  removal of the Senate President over the Electoral Act Amendment Bill controversy.

OKONKWO, accused AKPABIO of being an enemy of democracy for even considering to maintain the same provision that the Supreme Court said needed to be changed…
