The Nigerian Senate has vehemently denied allegations that it is involved in determining its salaries and allowances or received special fiscal packages from the Presidency.

The claim, which reportedly emerged during a recent visit by members of the House of Representatives to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has sparked widespread public debates.

However, the Senate Spokesman, Yemi Adaramodu, in a statement released yesterday in Abuja, described the allegations as an attempt to crucify the legislature by the centurions of political hypocrisy, stating that the 10th Senate has not received any financial patronage from the presidency.

Adaramodu explained that salaries and allowances paid to Senators have always been allocated to them by the Revenue Mobilisation Fiscal Allocation Commission, in strict accordance with constitutional provisions.

He therefore, assured the public that the 10th Assembly remains a responsible and responsive chamber, insisting that it only receives what is constitutionally allocated to it and would never seek additional perks from other branches of government.
