The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President BOLA TINUBU to tender a formal apology to Governor SIMINALAYI FUBARA over what it described as an unconstitutional suspension of governance in Rivers State.
Reacting to the President’s decision to lift the six-month-long emergency rule in the state, PDP Deputy National Youth Leader, TIMOTHY OSADOLOR, speaking in Abuja, accused President TINUBU of overstepping his constitutional powers.
OSADOLOR criticized the imposition of emergency rule, stating it undermined the principle of separation of powers and set a dangerous precedent for Nigeria’s democracy.
Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), NYESOM WIKE, has lauded President TINUBU for lifting the state of emergency in Rivers State, describing the move as a restoration of democracy and a step that helped avert further crisis in the state.
In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, LERE OLAYINKA, WIKE expressed gratitude to the people of Rivers State for their trust in the President and for supporting ongoing efforts to steer Nigeria back toward progress and development, while also calling on political stakeholders in the state to prioritize unity and work collaboratively in the interest of the people, warning against any actions that could destabilize the region.
