OBIDIENT MOVEMENT IN ENUGU LAUNCHES NEW CAMPAIGN AGAINST ELECTION RIGGING

In response to the urgent national clamour for the rescue of a great nation and birth of a New Nigeria, the Enugu State chapter of the Obidient Movement has announced the launch of a new campaign, titled, ‘A New Nigeria is Possible–Get Your PVC and GO-MERD.

 Speaking at a press conference held in Enugu State, the Coordinator of the Obidient Movement in the state, CHUKWUDE IKENNA, while explaining that the GO-MERD acronym, which stands for Get Organised–Make Election Rigging Difficult, emphasized the importance of tackling the long-standing problem of election rigging, which has undermined the credibility of elections in the country.

IKENNA also urged eligible voters in the state who have not yet collected their Permanent Voters’ Cards, PVCs to take part in the ongoing nationwide voter registration and ensure they obtain their PVCs.

Addressing newsmen after the press briefing, a member of the movement, ELEKWACHI CHIKEZIE, pointed out some proactive mechanisms that would be put in place by the group to ensure that election rigging remains unattractive and dangerous for politicians and institutions who delight in thwarting the people’s mandate.

Additionally, a member of the Obidient movement in the state, MERCY TORTHY called on all eligible Nigerians to get organised, register, collect their PVCs, and make election rigging difficult during the next general elections, stressing that the future of Nigeria lies in their hands.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had announced that, Online Voter Registration commenced on August 18, 2025, while In-Person Registration will begin on Monday, August 25, 2025.
