NLC DEMANDS URGENT REVIEW OF NATIONAL MINIMUM WAGE.

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and federalgovernment workers have demanded an urgentreview of the national minimum wage, insistingthat the current 70,000 naira is no longersustainable.

The labour unions and workers who spoke inseparate interviews, contended that in the faceof galloping inflation, rising costs of food,transportation, and other essential services, thenew minimum wage signed into law bypresident BOLA TINUBU in July 2024 couldno longer sustain Nigerian workers.

They made the demand following the bold stepstaken by several states across the country toincrease the minimum wage of their workers above the 70,000 naira benchmark,  in response to the prevailing economic realities.
