The Nigerian Independent System Operator, NISO has disclosed that power generation dropped by 292 megawatts due to gas supply constraints in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry, NESI.

In a statement issued today, NISO revealed that there was a continued decline in electricity generation on the national grid arising from persistent gas supply constraints affecting several thermal power plants.

The operator said that as a result, the total electricity generation on the national grid as of today, March 5, stood at Three Thousand, Nine hundred and forty point Five Three megawatts, already below expected capacity because ongoing gas supply constraints are affecting several power generating stations.

However, NISO maintained that it is working closely with the affected Generation Companies, GENCOS and relevant gas suppliers to monitor the situation and ensure power generation is restored once gas supply to the impacted plants stabilises.
